Left Handed Airsoft

Post2014-02-17 / 17:57 UTC GMT +00:00

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to get into airsoft however I am a left eye dominate shooter. I am having difficulties finding full left hand compatible airsoft AEGs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank You,

FN Scar, P90, G36, F2000, Mp5's and others that have ambidextrous fire selector . There is also other rifles out there that have this feature for the Lefty's out there if this is what you have in mind.

Im a full lefty with everything I do. Any platfrom is lefty friendly besides AKs in real life due to their shell ejection. You just need to learn how to manipulate it. I personally run a VFC SR15E3IWS which is a full licensed and trademarked KAC AEG. It is fully ambidextrous and honestly one of the best guns out of the box in my opinion. Most standard AR15s are ambi-friendly as well.

Best thing to do is go to some stores, and feel out a rifle. If you look at alot of other threads on the "New Player Questions" section, a lot of us will tell people to go out to the stores and actually hold and feel the rifle, do your research, and continue on from there.

Im a lefty and started out with a jg g36c. its fully ambidextrous with selector switch and mag release. Now I have a vfc kac pdw which is also fully ambidextrous, I think all knights armament are ambi. The mag release on the pdw is beautiful for lefties. As for BARs. I don't think they make left handed BARs. But I have been shooting guns all my life and shooting a right handed rifle lefty is no hindrance for me, so with airsoft its not a big deal either.

That being said. I have found in airsoft that I have gained the ability to shoot both left and right handed. Especially since there are lots of situations when your in cover and it would not be ideal to shoot left and stick your body out. Even if you get a ambidextrous gun, I would practice shooting both ways. It really comes in handy.

I've owned M4, AK, MP5 and held many other guns and being a lefty is never an issue for me. As for the non-ambi mag release on most rifles, I feel like I have the advantage over right handed players. Why? my right hand always wraps around (front) the mag well with my right thumb close to the mag release and changing mags is fairly quick. As for right handed players, their right index finger has more travel time from the trigger to the mag release. If we let our mags fall on the ground for a quick mag change then being lefty is a disadvantage but its very rare that people drop mags on the ground.

Only problem I have is the Bolt Action Rifle but I am getting used to cock my BAR with my right hand without moving the rifle from my left shoulder.
