Hey guys, I am new to Canadian airsoft and I was wondering if or where I could rent an aeg for my first game? Also I am into a designated marksman role so I was looking into the kjw kc02 as my gun.. any opinions?
Thanks a lot guys!

Well, I know Panther does rentals at their field. I think it's like $10 or something like that. As for DMRing, play a couple games first if you are new to airsofting and see what you like. If this club had a nickel for for every time a new player said "i wanna take on a sniper role", we would be issuing everyone Systema PTWs. If you do decide to take on a DMR role, well, you're probably going to use a gun with a higher FPS, so you're going to need to do a Sniper Cert. Course. Your best bets for a good DMR is either a spring Bolt Action Rifle (BAR) or a solid AEG with a good length barrel (like an M16 or SR25 or something like that).

Now for the KJW KC02, that rifle will only be good for a couple months out of the year. Since it is a green gas powered weapon, it will basically be useless from end of October to maybe April due to weather. Green gas/ propane doesn't like cold weather and will leak out of the mags until the weather warms up.

My best suggestion, and I know a good chunk of the guys would agree with me. Come out to a couple games, rent a gun, see how you like it. If you end up liking airsoft, then purchase a solid AEG (like a G&G or VFC or something) and start modifying it to the way you play.

THE MAN ABOVE DOESNT SPEAK A WORD OF A LIE....

please realise that the difference between a full auto role and a DMR role is 50FPS.... i have a sub 400FPS gun that i would say shoots as far if not farther than many peoples DMR's. so unless you have upgraded your DMR to the tits and modded the hell out of it i would stick with a full auto replica.

This sport can get disheartening when you are using your DMR rifle and getting totally outgunned by people shooting full auto...

my advice, stick with a good quality AEG and keep it under 400FPS to start out with. learn mods that can be done to increase range and accuracy and then purchase or convert your setup into a 450FPS DMR.

I tried the KC02 as one of my first guns... I wouldn't recommend it as a starter, maybe down the road it would be a great second weapon, but I agree with the above posters that you are better off sticking with an AEG as your first gun, preferably under 400 fps so that you can use full auto.
