Airsoft in California

Maple ridge is a good example of how people don't want a long commute, I personally don't to go MR that often due to both the lack of players and the distance.

I don't see why people bitch about a commute at all when I am more then willing to drive 3.5 hours and spend close to $60 just in gas just for a game day. If you build it, guaranteed I will come. I don't see why people don't go to MRP game days. If it is a $3 dollar toll stopping you then that is just sad. Kamloops literally has no where to airsoft. The only place they club up here was aloud to play got clear cutted by the govt. So people, don't take for granted all the fields you have down there.

i agree, i don't get it.
talking to the boys in Quebec or Ontario, they would drive an hour+ to get to a good field and game.
Here, everyone wants to be catered to and the reality is, you will not get what they want in vancouver.
Time and Money i'm not worried about as the capital has the potential to be there with little trouble.

Mikefxd, that is exactly what we were thinking. place to change, secure area so you don't need to be in your car with your gear. small pro shop for those things that seem to break, or when you need smoke, thunder b's etc.

its the drive that people complain about that blows my mind.

I live in abbotsford almost whatcom area, and I've been to both fields MRP and Panther. It takes 20 mins for mrp for me and 25 to panther. I don't care about the toll it saves time and gas for an alternative route. I would drive an hour or more to an airsoft field if it meant I could have a great day. MRP has GREAT potential will just take time to get it there. Its still got good fields to play a little closer combat than panther so its a nice change. If people actually want to play airsoft then suck it up and drive. Rain, shine or snow. Honestly a good game in the rain every now and then is awesome. Even last game at MRP when there was 4 of us, it was a blast.
I have no problem playing both regularly. Frankly were a bit spoiled when it comes to fields right now but things could change anytime. We could be shut out of any paintball fields if they wanted us gone, then we would have nowhere nice to play and would have to go to the bush
I dunno about everyone else but I'm pretty content with these two fields right now.
Also there are the milsims that are available to us every year. Good change up if your willing to drive. Which I would be.

As for the topic, building a field would take a lot of time and money but I'm sure it would be a big hit.

Aldergrove is a good balance for most of the valley residents. North Vancouver, Vancouver, Delta and Richmond might be a bit reluctant. Many folks drive out to South Surrey / South Langley already, which isn't that much closer.

Hard core players will go if you can provide good facilities, good field choice, and reliable services.

Occasional players might go if your facility is exceptional, otherwise they might choose to do something else entirely, like go-cart racing, R/C racing, or kite flying.

For entertainment sake, I prefer sweeping vistas and field strategies with occasional FIBA or MOUT play. ... or sweeping vistas punctuated with FIBA engagements on the same field.
