Airsoft in California

Unless we could find a First Nations Band that wants to create a new business for themselves. They have the land and government funding to start it up.

A park like this doesn't develop overnight. It's been operating since 1986. That's 17 years of development time.

Put the revenues from the larger population and more sunny weather together with time, and "voila".

For developing our own facility:

• Community Futures progam -- possible grant
• business plan (prove it will work, you can take this to a banker)
• bank loan
• manager

Has anyone ever asked at the paintball fields what they pay for insurance? Im sure it is very costly

ok here is a question.
if it was built, a SC Village style field and it was airsoft only, (I'm not going to get in the debate on paintball revenue etc), and lets say it was in Aldergrove or somewhere to that distance from vancouver, would players come?

I have been around the paintball and airsoft scene for a long long time, paintball since 88 and airsoft around 94-95, so i have seen fields come and go, promises of players playing at said fields never materialize due to what they perceive as long travel etc.

lately a couple friends and I (whose kids are deemed underage here at 13 years old and play with other clubs) have been toying with the idea of starting this. Will it go anywhere? no idea? is it promising? you bet. capital and the ability to do this? yup
I haven't mentioned this or brought it up with any other clubs as my roots and loyalty are here and for the people who know me, know that. nuff said.

But the question stands, would people come to the same style play and same setup all the time? What would you want to see in a proper airsoft field etc?

My fisrt thought was "Build it and they will come".

Now onto being serious, I believe the main determining factor for whether or not people will come is if the people they play with go to that airsoft place.

Yes, the set up of the field does play a determining factor but I think the social aspect of Airsof tis what will bring more people.

The only type of gameplay we don't really have around here is something that has an urban/cqb type of field besides RIP, but that place is covered in paint. If there was a field that had a good mix of what panther has to offer plus a MOUT style field too, I'd be there more then Lindsay Lohan goes to rehab.

so the question is then, how do you move that social aspect out there.
most people i have found over the years are lazy when it comes to driving and complain about a 30 min drive.
so with the options in closing to town, ambush, panther, etc. would people come out that extra 20 - 30 min to come to a field designed and built for airsoft?
as mentioned and history has shown, fields like in mission (the tree farm or CP rail yard) burke mountain etc where the field is and can be a superior people just didn't want to drive that far.

what would make people want to come out that far for the more than once experience?

and that is what we are looking at, Mout and CQB settings with bush if the game play warranted it.
we have access to containers with the ability to outfit and build them to whatever specs we want to build fields like SC which use them in limited fashion.

We have also talked about a purely CQB style warehouse where there would be viewing platforms etc above the game play and teams can practice pure CQB. Events and competitions could then be held.
but again, how much play would they get longterm is the biggest question.
if built, this would be built to become a viable business for the long haul.

I thinhk playing in a small town or a car scrap yard would be really fun.

I see the driving thing already. Panther days, many people. Maple Ridge days, very few. It could be the Sat. Sun. thing but now we have tolls to deal with and driving distance which seem to be the biggest factor. I bet people in CA drive more than 1-2 hours to get to that field.

I would like to see a mix of CQB and field play. Some building to capture/clear. Some wide open terrain to cross. Wooded area but this takes land and there are opportunities to lease land cheap but not in the GVRD.

Other things that would make it better, changing area so your not trying to get into dry clothes standing in the parking lot in the rain. Safe areas on the field that you can clean your googles or fix a gun. A small shop that sells consumables and rentals.

It only takes money and time...
