VFC Scar H Mk17 CQC
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=9500I'm having a hard time finding what battery to use with it. I've found people using, 8.4 NiMH, 7.4 Lipo and a 9.6 1600?
No idea what I need, and apparently the battery casing is very small.
Has anyone used a VFC Scar before/and or know what battery works best?
I love VFC, and that is a great gun (if you don't mind spending a bit on mags), are you planning on ordering from the US? There can be a lot of waiting, headaches, and additional hidden costs if you order outside the country. Airsoft GI for example only ships with UPS, UPS always charges a customs inspection charge and taxes. They will also charge duty in some cases (this technically should qualify for requiring a duty charge but it seems to be hit or miss when they charge it). So you can expect at least $100 at the door when it gets here, and probably $30-40 for the shipping initially too.
With the budget you stated of $600 it may be tough to get everything you need with that gun. To your door from the US I expect that gun will cost you a minimum of $500 (could be higher). Trigger Airsoft in richmond also carries it at $569, which would save you the wait and the risk of customs seizing it(should be unlikely given the fps of the gun is well within the canadian requirements).
As for batteries
On a stock gun without a mosfet I personally use 7.4v lipos or 9.6v nimh batteries. The voltage on the battery will change the rate of fire on the gun, more voltage means more BB's per second, but lipos are more efficient than NiMH so a 7.4v lipo generally has the same rate of fire as a 9.6v NiMH. Higher voltage batteries will cause additional wear on many components so for your first gun I'd probably recommend 7.4 lipo, 8.4 nimh or 9.6 nimh. The mah rating on the battery tells you how long it will last, you can generally go an entire day on something around 1600mah if you aren't shooting a ton. You can do less if you pick your shots. From what I've read online people say a standard 8.4v nimh battery fits and it requires some internal caps to be removed to fit a mini 9.6v, not sure the downfall of this since I don't actually own this gun. Measurements of a standard 8.4v nimh that would fit are 104 mm (Length);35 mm (Width); 18.5mm (Height). Any battery around this size will probably fit.
