Question of the day #2 - BBs

Post2013-09-06 / 15:22 UTC GMT +00:00

BB'S BB'S BB'S. Color, weight, speed vs accuracy.

Another question to raise the dead on this forum.

What would you rather have from your airsoft bb's?. Speed (low weight .20-.23-.25 ) vs. accuracy (heavy weight bb .25+)

What BB weight do you use for what FPS and why?

What color do you use white or black? do you mix black and white?

Do you really think players can see white bb's coming at them?

I prefer my guns to shoot 350 fps so lighter BBs in slower guns and heavier bbs in hotter guns.

Meaning 350 fps gun .20s
400 fps gun .25s
415 fps gun .28s
450 fps gun .30s
550 fps gun .40s

This way the bb always travels the same speed.
Perhaps if you are always used to a BB travelling the same speed you will know how to "dope" your running targets.

I prefer heavy bb, slow but accurate. I like picking targets without getting notice :) I normally use .30 with my 400fps

i prefer .25 on most of my aeg`s and they are shootin between 340-360ish, for the gas i got .28 but its so fiddly trying to find that perfect spot to turn the hop on that i use .30 sometimes to compensate. during my first year of airsofting i was using the "walmart specials" .20 bio, they seem to work fine until i switch from being a cheapo to buying premium quality bb`s. still a cheapo though

.25- my pistols
.28- in my sub 400fps AEG's
.3- in my 415+fps AEG's + gas MP7
Lately with my support weapons I have set the hopup for .3's but I've thrown in a mix of .3 and .28's in the box mag.

If I can get my hands on a Polarstar engine in the next few months I'll be shooting .4's

I would prefer a balance of speed and accuracy.

Though I am considering increasing from my standard 0.25 to 0.28. Based on this and the bio bb discussions.

Here is my take;

.25- my pistols annd AEG's under 380fps.
.28- in my 390-400fps AEG's
.30*- in my DMR 420+fps AEG's
.30*- for MP9 to keep them flying straight
.40- BAR

As for White BB personaly I can see them (when I'm looking at the shooter) all the way. I still have 20/20 vision.
I use to Salt & Pepper my BB's but they don't make them in .28 or .30 if they did I would use that setup for sure. I S&P my pistol ammo up until AUG 1/13 :(

*The problem is there are no BIO BB's in this weight category yet so I have to reset my KWA S-system. I’m looking at this RHOP setup. Dice I need your notes.

.20- chronograph only.... common.
.25-pistols
.28 400FPS AEG's
.30-.36 450FPS DMR
.40 500-550FPS Sniper.

i rather have accuracy over speed. but like everything else with airsoft its a gentle ballance. you will find that some setups love heavy weight bb's even with low FPS. TM Glock 17, 300FPS (.20) will send a .25 and .28bb 150+feet.

I currently use

.25's 400fps AEG
.3's GBB
.3's BAR

In the near future once I burn through my current ammo supply I will be upgrading to

.28's AEG
.3's GBB
.4's BAR

I prefer white so that I can accurately track my bb's flight path. On the flip side to that though sometimes when enemy's are lobbing shots at me I can see their white bb's coming from a mile off (If they are flying through direct sunlight)

anything under 350-360 I use .020

between 360-400 always .025

DRM .030

pistols .020 (in a pistol it is always CQB for me but I want max speed for people playing peek a boo) less reaction time.

oh yes, you can see white BBs coming at least I can anyway, black BBs almost impossible to see coming.

If I was to use an "area wepon" IE my SAW, I might consider black BBs, but I would rather follow every shot like a tracer so white is they way to go.
you went FULL RETARD!!
