Evike???

Post2013-07-31 / 04:35 UTC GMT +00:00

Anyone ever ordered from this sight? I'm wondering if there are any issues bringing guns in from the states. Also when shipping things to canada are there any other fees than the shipping the website charges me? Thank for any tips.

you need to make sure guns shipped to canada are legal for canada importation (over 366 fps with .20g bb) and make sure they have those documents shipped with the gun, not all guns can be shipped to canada

as for shipping costs to canada many us sites use a shipping company like UPS and they wind up charging you a brokerage fee and taxes/duty to ship into canada possibly tripling the shipping costs (this has been my own experience so far, others have had better luck) if its something more than just parts (which is all iv bought from them) brokerage fees could be even higher but i dont know for sure

I have made orders with evike before but never for a gun, only for parts, accessories and mags. They do have the option of shipping USPS which I'd highly recommend since UPS will take a big chunk of money at the door for customs fees. Even though it is possible to import a gun from out of country I'd recommend avoiding it, I've heard too many horror stories where people have lost hundreds of dollars because a gun was held with customs for an extended period of time then found to be shooting just under 366fps. I do generally order my parts and accessories from the US or Hong Kong, it can save you a lot of money, but I wouldn't ever do it with a gun, just too risky and often costs as much as buying it in canada after the shipping/duty/brokerage fees.

Thanks for the advice. I emailed them asking a bunch of questions and am waiting for a response. Found this gun http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?c ... s_id=41235. Its exactly what im looking for and even if i pay triple shipping i think it would still be a great deal as long as i can get it through the border, and they give you 60 dollar in store credit for accessories. Right now im looking for a good quality m4 thats shorter than a stock one so i can use it for cqb. Any recommendations on something that is good quality that im not gonna have to spend a ton of money upgrading? Just had to pay for an entire airsoft setup and the funds are depleting fast. I'll keep you posted on the evike situation.

Dont knock local... Trigger airsoft and Badlands both stock G&G if you are set on one.

Badlands is known for some very resonable pricing as well. A quick search brought up....

and you could hold all the new shiny guns when you go there. :geek:

I'm not really sure that gun would be worth the hassle, G&G guns aren't generally the most reliable and the internal parts are not always the best. For what you're looking for I'd think a king arms M4 tanker would be good, king arms isn't the most amazing brand out there but they are generally better than G&G (personal opinion).

Another option would be the G&P M4 Magpul CQB, I have a G&P M4 (not this exact one), and I've found it to be really reliable.

Either of these would be a better bet in my opinion and you can get free shipping since they are over $300. No customs, no brokerage fees, and they are both on sale for what I think are pretty good deals.

Cheers

Apparently they bump up the fps before shipping. Anyone know if those lct guns airsoftgear sells are any good? Thinking of this http://airsoftgear.ca/store/index.php?m ... ts_id=1281

hmm i would have to respectfully disagree...

3 years with my G&G from a 400FPS 26BPS bullethose to a dmr, that thing is as reliable as a tank.

im my opinion, stay away from electric blowback. its stupid, loud and its just another possible part in your gun that could break.

Very good point on the electric blowback, more moving parts more problems.

I've been tempted a few times by the LCT AK's at ASG, I have looked up a bunch of reviews on them and for the most part they sound reliable. The externals are generally a bit different than TM so replacing parts may not be as easy as it is with TM/TM clones, but wouldn't be impossible. Most shoot around 400 fps, so you'll probably have to downgrade for CQB, not that there are a lot of guns readily available in canada that shoot under 350 fps stock. That being said most LCT guns including the one you are considering have electric blowback on them and as Gunny points out that's just one more way for the gun to fail.
