Hey with all do respect Xcon the requirement to not use frequency 462.650, 467.650, 462.700, 467.700 Commonly known as Ch.19 and ch. 21 are for use of radios' in America. There is no requirement in Canada to stay away from said channels.
Althought since we play so close to the border we might resectfully stay off these channels.

Also, channels 16 to 23 are reserved for use with Repeaters. Consumer GMRS radios will not receive on these channels.

Added table of frequencies to Radio Protocol in Airsoft Information based on Industry Canada definition of the frequency listing. The table above shows the frequencies starting with FRS and adding GMRS on top of them (Channels 15 to 22).

The new table at http://www.lowermainlandairsoft.ca/info ... ency_Table shows the two sets of frequencies side-by-side. The shared frequencies are obvious this way. Also, possible confusion in radio use is visible. Imagine a radio user whose rig only has GMRS, his channel 1 is different than someone with only FRS (462.5500 not equal to 462.5625).

Also, different companies use different numbering schemes (Motorola and Icom).

Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed thread on Radio selection, I've been scrolling through and reading up on radio's and will be picking up a Motorola 2 way set, next question I have is headset/mics I know it's player preference but is anyone willing to give suggestions? I was leaning towards throat mics and just a simple ear bud so I don't block out ambient background noise(I'd head to be mercy'd by a knife because I couldn't hear behind me lol)

my own experience with throat mics is a mixed bag... the more expensive ones ($150+) work fairly well but if you sweat alot/move your head alot looking around the pickups can move from their sweet spot and messages can be difficult to understand (if this is a problem there are straps you can get to try to keep them from moving). on the other end most throat mics i have seen and tried have had an ear coil earbud system (not all just most) that cuts off all/most sound in one ear(also if someone hits the call button on their radio these can be very hard on the ears)

my own preference at the moment is more headset boom mic setup of the bowman styled headsets from cavalry or z-tactical (a $60-$90 headset will usually last me a couple years before breaking a wire in it somewhere) . i know there are some cheaper alternatives that im sure someone will mention and i have tried but just didnt like the feel or button placement for the push to talk

Was on Warcrafts airsoft page and I think I'm looking at the boom head set with just one ear piece for now once I get a little more cash will make the jump too the bowman style with both ears covered.

bowman style doesnt cover both ears and the one it does cover is not cut off from ambient sounds...

the comtac noise reduction headsets cover both ears and have a sound amplification system in them but you dont get any sound directional cues from them

do you really need a radio in your kit ??? !!! for beginner ...

Thanks for the info Char, think I'm going mid ranged priced($84 @ London Drugs) Motorola and simple mic headset.
