Hey guys, sorry for my absence, and the lack of information, I've been distracted, recently. Anyway, as the above post mentions, we've got close to 200 people. It's difficult to give an exact number, because there are a lot of people who are looking to pay last minute, day-of, etc. But there is a lot of interest, and number-wise it is looking good.
With only 6 weeks to go, Planning and such is now hitting high gear. So, I'll be doing my best to get you guys what you need, information wise, so you're better informed, and such. Here's the first dump, so brace for text-wall.
TimelineI and a few others are going to be heading up, at latest, Thursday (Aug 21st) morning, perhaps even the night before. We're hoping to be there early, so we can get some eyes on the site and assess changes from last year. We also want to try and get a jump on digging in at main base camp, FOB 3, and see what defenses FOB 2 may have.
I would like if, at the very least, a rep from each squad could be on site Friday, no later than 6:30. pm, local. I want to have a briefing with leads/captains before the big hurrah, and it would also be good to have a speech/chat/brief with the lot of us, if we can. At this stage, we're still not sure if the game officially launches the Friday night, or the Saturday morning. The helicopters are what is holding up the decision. If they are in play, game won't start until Sat, at which point our plans change, somewhat. If not, we're kicking things off on the Friday.
OperationsAs the LMAG club, and their affiliated squads, were the first Tier 1 groups to sign, you guys factor rather heavily in the initial Operations, Missions and ass kickery. At present, I have a list of groups and people that have signed, but am still not sure who is who. I have the Devil Dogs, SGB and PIMP attending, and each person under their respective squads, based on the colours you're flying on this board. Are there any other squads in attendance? Also, I need a Lead from each of those squads, and/or a radio man designated. During the event, I only want designated individuals on the command channel, to keep traffic and confusion to a minimum. How you run your squad is up to you, obviously.
Here is a taste of what is planned. Again, this may change closer to the day, so don't count it as fact, yet. Also, please note that I am expecting the Tier 1 people to be willing to camp out ON FIELD. If this is an issue, I need to know NOW, so I can find alternatives.
Operation Havoc:Launches Friday night. First come, first serve, so let me know which of your squads (or all, which'd rock) are good for this.
Purpose:
Havoc is the deployment phase of the majority of the missions planned for Saturday morning. Valkyrie, Harling and Morning Glory are all dependent on this. SGB, Dogs, and/or PIMP will move into position and camp over night in the field. Listening Posts will be deployed to keep an eye on FOB 2. Light and sound discipline are vital to the success of this portion of the Operation, and you are to consider the game live. Eye Pro at all times, lads.
Distractions and such will be provided by several other squads, hopefully pulling attention away long enough to get you guys into a position where you will be blocked from direct observation by FOB 2. Where your units will be deployed will place you within very close proximity to FOB 2.
Operation Morning Glory:Launches Saturday morning, really, really, early. I don't expect your entire unit to be good to go, given that some of your guys will/would have been on watch. I'd suggest trading out the duties, spread the load, but it is up to you

However, you'll need to be up before sunrise for this one. The attack relies on us catching them before they're ready.
Summary:
Morning Glory will begin just prior to sunrise. It launches at 6:00 am, local, so you need to be up, preped and ready before then. You'll know when things are kicking off, trust me. Several squads will launch an attack from the Northeast/Eastward direction, while a mortar team will proceed to drop smoke on FOB 2, in order to provide obscurity/concealment for the Devil Dogs, PIMP and SGB to launch your attack from the south/southwest.
You (all) are the primary assaulting force on this one. The other squads will support, but will be pulled the moment it looks as though you've got things in hand. Once fire is put down on FOB 2, ISAF won't be able to spawn there, forcing them to walk back to their main base to jump back in. Hopefully, this'll make it relatively easy for you all to overwhelm them.
I will set-up a CCP nearby, with a vehicle to ferry the dead back to FOB 3, and then back to the front to reinsert reinforcements, so I need aggression. After you've taken FOB 2, you guys can have a nap-nap, if you're inclined, but we need FOB 2, early on.
Each commander/squad lead will receive a Commander's Package from me, Friday. It will contain the following:
* List of Standard Operating Procedures
* Basic information on all Operations, so you have a rough idea of what is going on
* Detailed information on the specific Operation(s) your unit is involved in
* List of Frequencies/Channels pertinent to you (Command channel, Admin, etc)
* “Alamo†packet, with advanced orders and a 'authenticate' code, should the worst happen.
* There'll also be a map in there, though feel free to use Jsae's map, as we're duplicating his grid structure to make the maps co-witness.
In the S.O.P packet will be several pre-made radio conversations, detailing how I would like you to send information back to me. I don't care how you talk to each other via radios on your own channels/frequencies, but I need the convos on the command channel short and sweet, and to the point. I'll be in my little tent, taking that information in, updating the tactical map, and trying to get people where they need to be. As a result, I need the information to come in a specific way, to make my job easier, and to facilitate everyone having the best experience possible. You'll see once you have your packets, and hopefully it will add to the simulation.
I think I'll stop there, for now. There is so much more to get across, but that's enough to overwhelm most forum-goers. Questions, concerns, comments, let's hear them.
