wow $500 Camo... I tend to agree with both veiws, you cant wear too many sets, quality will always pay off in the end but most $75 camo set will last you a long time also!
I have been in Canadian military issued Combats in one form or an other since the 70's, I wore the old OD Green as an army cadet in the 70's, then a generation of OD in the early 80's as a reservist, then came back to the reserves in the late 90's and went through the switch from OD to Cad-pat! 3 generations of that at right up to the latest issue that we just got last summer.
I have trained with or been on the same base with US troops Ft Lewis to Britts in England and Scotland, 90 % of troops all wear the same kind of construction, double knees, double butt and crotch, double elbow rip-stop style combats.
I only ever noticed the gootchy stuff on Operators or security forces and most ERT teams.
my point in this is not the worth of $500 BDUs and their quality but just a comparison to the $75 sets, under the sever everyday real life situations, the every day solders issued BDU's hold up pretty well, I think my issued kit account shows CF combats at around $90 a set! maybe if the CF went to a multi task BDU we could cut down on the closet full of layers and layers of fleece and gortex lol, but no complainant with me compared what we used to have! and the Cad-Pat design is one of the best out their in Green or dessert. (that's why so many counties try to copy it)
But hey I any't knocking nothing, yesterday I used my polar star that is related to nothing! no M-4 in the real world that I know of has a hose running out it pistol grip.. lol
I am not naming names either, but a player I know real well has blown three crotches out of his BDU's, can't have Plummer crack or rapper pants on in the bush, blow em out every time....
