The Cylinder head is another compression component in your AEG system. This part is relatively simple. The cylinder head gets press fitted on the barrel side of your cylinder. The main function of this piece is to create a proper air seal between your cylinder and cylinder head and also to funnel the compresses air through a small tube, out your nozzle and into your bucking/barrel. Your Cylinder head can take a lot of abuse in its life. When the piston gets released under spring tension and starts its compression cycle it ends its cycle by slamming into the cylinder head.



There are different types of cylinder heads to accommodate the different versions of gearboxes. Some have an elongated tube, some have their tube in a different position than others (version 6) but in general they all are made for the same purpose. Some cylinder heads have a double O ring design which creates a tighter seal in the cylinder.



In general, either you have a good air seal between your cylinder and cylinder head or you don’t. If you don’t, then I would recommend looking at a new cylinder head. My preference is a double o ring design, stainless steel if possible (ooh shiny).
Just make sure you are purchasing the correct part for the correct version of gearbox.

critical point here "leaks"

when assmebling cyliner heads, I use liquid pipe sealant of more offen... liquid electriacl past!

both "set" up to seal but do not harden, then with the piston in the cylinder and a long rubber hose over the nozzel end for blowing air through, I check for leaks with the unit submerged in a big glass jar of water!

you would be very surprised just how much air you loose through the, cylinder, nozzle and piston o-ring! I have had some builds with all new name brand parts with no sealant, blow bubbles through all three areas at the same time, sometimes thats why when you install that M120 spring and only get 360 Fps, look there!

when I do a build I very rarely use the first batch of parts I lay on the table, mix and match "blue print" is where the patiants comes in

also use metal cylinder heads, plastic or poly are less noise but get distorted in a higher FPS gun.
