500+ and over yes, but it needs to exceed 5.7 joules to be classified as a rifle. my 550FPS sniper only produces roughly 3.2 joules at the muzzle so no its not technically considered a firearm. I would have to put in a 1000+FPS spring into the thing to get it to shoot 5.7 joules and therefore be classified as a firearm.
