Newb at the Milsim?

So I was hoping to get this Sunday off work to come play my first round of airsoft, but I can't get the coverage for my shift. However I can get the 8th of March, but I gather it's a bigger game/milsim event at Panther. Would it be a poor choice for me to jump right in? Or is there any use for some newb cannon fodder at a game like this?

Definitely attend the sim. A new player who gets to follow some experienced players in that setting ends up with a great day out.
