Depends on the weather. Most guys wear long sleeves in any weather though.

There's lots of guys that can rent you some gear so that you can try it out. If you're on a budget it'll be best to try it first anyways. You can play in jeans and a t-shirt if you really want, but tans, browns, and greens work best. Avoid vibrant or bright, as stated above. All in all though, airsoft is not an under $300 sport, especially if you want to play even semi-regularly. A decent, low-level starter gun is at least $250 - $300 minimum. But a gun will need mags, mags will need ammo, ammo needs a propulsion system, a propulsion system needs batteries, batteries need a charger, and on and on and on. So that $250 dollar gun needs a few hundred more in parts, maintenance, accessories, batteries, ammo, etc. You'll also want really quality eyewear. Most fields out here seem to require full sealed goggles with a minimum of ballistic, ANSI, or paintball rated lenses. Don't ever skimp on eyewear, protect them. Footwear is huge too. Airsoft is often played within structures, forests, and all kinds of uneven landscapes. Lots of running and your gear will get heavy. I'd recommend a good quality set of military, jungle, or mountain boots, that are light weight, flexible, and have at least six inches of ankle support. Many of the fields out here have a lot of brush, forest, etc. You don't need camo, but it's a huge advantage, or disadvantage if you don't have it. Sets of camo vary in price from reasonably priced to super expensive, and back down to cheap shit. In airsoft the saying goes "buy cheap, but twice". Expect to dump at least $100 or more on a set that won't rip, fade, or fall apart right away. I've seen budget sets tear open within the first hour of their first game. Beyond that, you'll Ned's headwear to hide you and protect you from the sun, some sort of modular rig or vest to carry your magazines, water, ammo, etc. Think of things like a sling for your gun so it doesn't smash all over the ground of you trip, a sight so that you can shoot straight, knee pads to avoid injury, etc, etc, etc. Airsoft is an amazing sport, and very totally worth it. However, airsoft on a budget is more like $500 - $1,000 to get you seriously started, or at least within your first year. There's always something else you'll find you may want or need. A sidearm, a radio, a hydration system, may seem trivial until your out there. Welcome and start saving. Most people who go buy a cheap you and crappy gear don't have fun, and get discouraged quick.
I never wear an emblem, garment or title I have not earned. I never pretend to be, claim to be nor impersonate someone or something I am not. I never diminish, disrespect nor depreciate the sacrifices of true heroes. I utilize military style gear, equipment and tactics as they are the best and most appropriate tools for the job. I am a combat sports athlete.
