BIO BB life expectancy

Post2013-12-03 / 21:22 UTC GMT +00:00

I just ordered 30,000+ Bio BB’s and after I ordered that many I had a thought,

Assuming I keep the bags new and sealed, how long will they last before they start to break down?

Some people think I am trying to be sneaky, its really that my eyes are not as good and I have to make sure its a tree and not the enemy! Trees do not call hits. I have shot a few.

That's going to be based on the storage conditions and quality of the bags more than anything else. Biggest thing will be if they get any moisture contamination. I've had a bag of G&G bio's that I broke the seal on and keep using/resealing about a mag worth from over the course of the year just because I was curious. They're still shooting solid after 6 months, so if they have started to break down, it hasn't been enough to impact performance.

I have been using the same bag of .25 Biovel's for my pistols for almost a year and they're fine. My guess is that it would take 20+ years in a wet environment for them to dissolve.

i ordered BIOSHOT bb's, apperantly the bags they come in are pressure sealed and are in a UV blocking sealed bag.

hopefully they last sealed a long time.

these are just two examples, you can find these packs in everything from car parts to pill bottles, I have a few of them I recycle from new chrome Harley parts we get at work, now I don't know the life expectancy of BIO BBs since I don't have the time or inclination to test them, but I do know I have an open bag of 025 opened in May or June, no silica packet in them and their still good after 6 months, if you say yours are in sealed bags they should be good for the rest of your airsoft life, open bags I would not worry about for a few months, just keep them out of dampness and direct sun light UV rays.

cheapest safe guard, buy an old Military ammo box (make sure it hasn't been drilled hole for a locking mechanism), they have a rubber seal around the top, when closed they are pretty air tight, put in 2-3 of the silica packets and forget, also one of your wife's large Tupper wear airtight storage food containers works very well also! 8-)
you went FULL RETARD!!

I have never had a problem with the Bioval, Bioshot, or Green Devil BBs and I might order them every 18 months.

I took small samples of Bioval and Bioshot BB and left them in water at room temperature in clear glass jars. They're still smooth and solid, since October 2010. They appear the same size as unsoaked BBs, but I didn't measure them.

I think they need more help to degrade than simple storage.

I also hand load magazines and dump un-shot BBs back into the bags without apparent loss of shelf-life. But I don't check their measurements, although I don't have any jamming issues either.

Depends... "biodegradeable" or "bioneutral"
