I was fiddling around with a version 6 gearbox trigger switch with a 7.4v 1600mah 20c battery. I could clearly see the spark that was being created from the contact points touching.
For the more electrical inclined people out there this question if for you.

Would dielectric grease on the trigger switch stop the electrical arc that eventually fries a trigger switch?

Good question Gunny, it does not conduct electricity from what I remember, mainly used to stop arching in plug wires and keep moisture out. Is the mechbox still apart? Can you do a trial?

Non AB Mosfet and trigger switches are 30.00 local for version 2 and 3 if that helps - PM me.

correct me if i am wrong but i do believe that version 6 trigger switch is not the same as version 2 or 3.

the gearbox i am working on is in pieces right now. i am trying to decide if i want to keep it or send it on its way. hmmmm if i cant find trigger switched or it there is no point in keeping it.

Not familiar with the V6 gearbox, but sure you could use the Mosfet and wiring to make it work.

i sent them a email. we will see how much they wanna bone me for this part.

Or if they even have it. I've also seen entire gearboxes made by "KS" (some chinese brand) for $40ish but didn't see any in stock.

As far as the common switch that we use in our AEG they will all spark as the contact disengage. The dielectic grease will help in the wear of the contact only and corrosion if you are play in the water .

Part of the Mosfet princable of having then in the gun is to eliminate the arcing of the switch. The arcing is the main reason that a switch wears out.

Nope, the arc is hot enough it will melt the grease in the area of the arc, dielectric grease is used to help keep water out so to stop corrosion, we also use it to aid in removing spark plug wire boots so the rubber will not tear.
