I was ask last weekend "Why do we have to wear sealed goggles at panther?
There are other fields that Airsoft that allow just shooting glasses."

Well it doesn't take being a rocket scientist to figure that out.

My first hand experience was just at the last Mil-Sim I was shot in the side of the head from about 60ft to 70ft away. I have NO problem with that. My point is that if I was wearing just shooting glasses I would of had an eye injury for sure.
A few days later as the scab above my eye was healing I touched the eye socket bone and realized that is was bruised. I was hit pretty hard. I thought about it, I figured out the angle of the shot and where the BB hit me just to the top and side of my OTW Smith Optic Ballistic SEALED goggles. Then I put on a pair of shooting glasses, that BB would of just rebounded or skipped its way into the inside of any shooting glasses for sure injuring my eye without doubt.

So you can be sure that personal I will always wear SEALED ballistic playing TMS and I hope that I'm not responsible for taking out an eye because my opponent is just wearing shooting glasses.

As far as I know, until recently, NO one is allowed shooting glasses at most Airsoft field's. That includes LMAG, FVAA and Airsoft gear's field (recently posted on their site eye wear rules)

I've lost enough face bits already I don't need to keep losing them.

Less coverage mo' problems.

There was a day where I had nothing but borowed gear, this included not having my paintball mask.
My choices were paintball masks with no lower or a pair of ballistics, I thought ok I'll try them out and hope I don't lose any teeth...
Well I got shot in full auto first one hit me in the forehead and four more off the top of my head.
I got a headache so bad I left at lunch, had I had my mask I would have been covered from most those shots.

I fully agree with the physics behind a BB getting through on the angles.

Sealed goggles on a "Paint ball" field, its not just the BB's you have to worry about, paint balls fragment and splash! that why you need full seal protection on a paint ball field.

Totally agree. I had a paintballer target me while I was wearing a bright yellow jacket and holding a camera and tripod. I still have green paint on my zoom lens.
On an airsoft only field where only adults are allowed to play and insurance still covers the use of ballistic glasses I have no problem with the use of them as long as players know the risks. You would think that more eye injuries would occur because of glasses but in reality they are very very rare but for me it wouldn't be worth the risk unless I was a sniper. After seeing two close calls involving bb's penetrating paintball goggles and a set of ballistic goggles in my opinion we take enough risk as it is.
