Just finished reading Infantry attacks a book written by Erwin Rommel while he was in the infantry prior to his switch into armour, gives a lot of good info for leading troops in the field and tactical advice with drawings showing the situations and solutions. Some of the information is outdated but the man was a true genius def recommend the book was a really good read.

Some pretty deep reading isn't it? Was it a translated edition, too?

I still have only started 3 Para, Special Forces in the Desert War, Infantry Combat and Combat Team. I can only imagine finishing a full text on Infantry Tactics.

Ya it was the English translated version , I tried to find an original German copy but no luck.
Still allows you to see combat situations through the eyes of a brilliant tactician, he was very smart when it came to using a smaller force against a larger and superior enemy and still come out on top with minimal casualties

I still need more training though using topagraphical maps and would like to be able to use them more in the field since knowing the terrain and how to use it before and during combat can be a deciding factor in any fight.

Light-ish reading on maps and tactics:

I found some map reading videos on Youtube from old training films from the 1960's. I'll look them up again.
