Opening this topic up again....

Before you say anything though, watch the video starting from the 5:40 mark.

Now, after you've seen that video, I'm sure we can all agree that's a large difference.

I don't know exactly what LMAG's take is on this, but most places I have ever played had a "hard cap". Basically a number set 20 FPS above the limit. Example would be; the limit is 400 FPS, then the hard cap is 420 FPS, etc. The hard cap meant that hop-up on or off, gas gun warmed up or cooled down, weight of BBs changed up, etc, your gun could not, at any point during the day, go over the hard cap. Even by 1 FPS. Hop-up, BB weight, are all things a player should be able to change on the fly. But, if there is a limit, usually a velocity and energy limit, then your gun shouldn't be able to exceed it.

Tj im going to kick you so hard in the snatch. Chronoing everyone already takes way to damn long, add that extra time and also the time it takes people to adjust there hop up/scoped on the field and we wont be playing till 12:00 in the morning.

we have always said that we chrono with our bb's shooting in a straight trajectory. if I chrono someone who's bbs are souring into the stratosphere and there fps is at 400 or 450 I will most definitely turn there hop up down to see the true reading at a straight bb flight path....

When we chrono we want to know what speed the gun will be shooting during the game, that is what our limits are based on. Ideally everyone would chrono with their gun already properly hopped and ready to go. If someone wants to put their hop up lower than the optimum setting in order to get that 20 extra fps they can go right for it cause they won't hit the broad-side of a barn. As Gunny said, if we see someone's BBs flying out and immediately straight up during the chrono we would ask them to turn down their hop up to a reasonable level.

Bushman and pavel both had their eyes on the prize that game, but in all seriousness. If were chronoing based on the velocity with the hop up on, then that's that ;)

The true fps reading for aeg is hop off. That is how I chrono my airsofts. In my opinion I find hop On is "cheating".

This video is showing an extreme change, from hop off to all the way on. With hop at a reasonable level where it doesn't shoot straight up when it leaves the gun you only lose about 5-10 fps. A deviation of this little is not going to make or break anybody, and if we see someone with BBs shooting right up we would have them turn hop off for the chrono test.

hop off! or at the most straight line hop setting, over hop and you are restricting your FPS, when I chrono I look for those , if the hop is heading up from the muzzle I ask them to turn the hop off.
