Well MB01 L96 is on sale for 120, and I was looking into it and all of the parts are compatible with maruzen as its a clone.
Im not sure if its some disgruntled buyers of the maruzen type 96 but I also read external quality was similar besides some minor gimmicks. If that is to be true, its hundreds cheaper, and youre going to be upgrading the maruzens internals anyways, so it would be a better buy. Before I consider purchasing this, is there anyone here who has had any experience using the well l96s as a platform?

Im not looking to be a sniper, I just think it would be a neat project to do to this spring. Not gonna pour all my money into upgrades asap eithee, but have it a gradual thing. Might be stupid, but im sleepy  Man I post too much.

Yeah sniper upgrades can get very expensive. Honestly the fields we play on aren't very sniper friendly. But if you want a project that is definitely a good one.

If you're looking to do a sniper project gun, or a field able gun, I'd avoid Well brand either way. A very good and solid Sniper rifle, airsoft platform for less is the Classic Army M24. It isn't quite as cheap as the Well, but pretty cheap. Also it is ten times better, more reliable, and easy to upgrade.

Well probably isnt too reliable stock, but does it matter too much since a chunk of the parts are stripped out and replace anyhow?

its kinda like buying a Ford Pinto and throwing in a turbocharger with all the bells and whistles.

the best place to start with a Sniper build project is a good quality base gun.

TM
JG BAR (if your on a budget)
maruzen
Tanaka

ECT ECT.

If you talk to the majority of the guys on our field rocking fully upgraded Sniper rifles you will find x2 TM VSR's and I believe Pinoy's L96 is a maruzen.

The ca m24 is the best out of the box and requires the least amount of upgrades to attain a high velocity setup. It has the best stock trigger sear setup out of the basr's.

Even JG is suspect. It's not just product quality, it's also tolerances, which sniper rifles are especially sensitive to. So it may or may not be that'll it'll break or fail, but that you may not get desired results with the exact same internal upgrades as you would with a quality platform.

For springers:

- TM VSR G-Spec, TM L96 AWS
- Maruzen Type 96
- CA M24

Tanaka and a few other companies have made some decent platforms, but you also need good available upgrades and support. Gas rifles are a whole new set of complexities, not that they aren't worth pursuing, but a different kind of project.

Best all around sniper rifle for $$$, accuracy and reliability with very simple workings is the A&K SVD (same as Brovo) you can buy the rifle for anywhere from $90-$140 then for an other $140 buy all the bullet proof CNC machined upgrades parts you will ever need from http://airsoftpro.cz/eshop/index.php?cPath=93_204.

I have had $150 snipers rifles up $1500 sniper rifles with all the bells and whistles, this combo with the SVD shot just as far and just as consistent, with a lot less tuning. you can use AEG springs to tune your FPS in about 30 seconds.

yes it is a little primitive compared to others and you have to be an AK type fan, with some improved trigger work on this gun there would be no equals in its price class!! and in saying that how many $250 sniper rifles are bullet proof and consistent with FPS adjustability?

I also installed a Sorbo pad and its sound level is about TM VSR (ask Bushman he is killing with it now 8-) )

I am no airsoft sniper and don't pretend to be (I am not sneaky enough and with bads knees and back I move around like a bored 2 yr old).

Too bad TM couldn't produce an out of the box VSR that shot 450 Fps, that would be a dream sniper rifle with no up-grade BS needed.

From my experience with the well l96, its not molded too well (lol) and leaves a big seam the length of the gun, and annoyingly, on the pistol grip. It really digs into your hand unless you want to put some tape over it.
If you really sink enough money into her you can make her shoot really well but you might as well spend a little extra and buy a comfortable gun.
