OK guys, we all love our airsoft.... if you anything like me you spend countless hours on sites "window" shopping for all your cool little gizmo's and gadgets. you add a bunch of "needed" items into your cart and see that it totals $+400 dollars. What goes through your head? how do you justify spending all that money? what do you tell your wife/significant other?

here are some examples of the interesting thoughts that goes through Gunny's head.

"well i can only use the first time buyers promotion code and get 8% off once so i better make it a good one"
"i had a shitty week at work i deserve this"
"didnt the wife just pay 100 bucks for kickboxing class"
"Spending money on airsoft is better than doing crack"
"FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING???, i'd be a idiot if i didnt"
"do i really wanna bring a regular flashlight into a milsim"
"the fate of our team winning our next game depends on these cool accessories"
"think of all the brospect once the boys see me with all this cool shiz"
"im no stranger to hiding the visa bill, whats one more time?"

FM's and Admins coming to my house for the meeting this is NOT something we are going to bring up while my wife is home.....

I always make the shipping fee worth ordering so once i have all the "needed" items in cart, I check the shipping cost ... I then slowly add unnecessary little things until the shipping cost changes

I always fill the cart till i reach the certain amount $$$ to get the promo "free shipping"

Since I'm ordering now and paying for shipping, why not get some spare parts (or double the items in case if it breaks)

$50 cheap/low quality APC and heavy VS $200+ Mayflower quality and lightweight ... I've spent too much on cheap stuff, they are uncomfortable and don't last ... time to get better ones

I worked enough OT last month to fund my "wants"

Well, on a positive note, I came to realize what works and satisfy me so I will spend more and settle with them then get rid of the old ones.

I just press Complete Order too fast to think about it, problem solved. My biggest issue is that in not thinking about it I forget things I wanted to order and end up having to do a second one...

See, I don't have this whole "significant other" problem. So I'm all like "oh sweet, that's cheap and free shipping", then I check the bank account/visa. And if all looks well I hit the "purchase" button. This system has been working for me for the past 3 years.

I feel though that this system shall be put through the test for Iceback, especially when purchasing dual-tube NODs, getting a Wilcox dovetail mount, a TATM arm, a G&P DBAL, a buttload of 11.1v LiPos, BBs, MREs, and more CR123s then one could shake a stick at.

I pace myself.

Living in a small apartment helps. We don't have an "extra" room to store dozens of airsofts, load-carrying rigs, or accessories. And the offsite storage locker is inconvenient.

Have you seen my display wall? I used to get a pay check, now I just get new gear...

Seriously, though, compared to how much I've spent on other pursuits, this is pretty tame. Paintball used to be much more expensive than it is nowadays, but none of my other hobbies hold a candle to building 600hp racing engines and cars that could handle them. I miss doing it some days.

My short list pretty much goes like this:

-What will I use it for?
-Do I have anything else that can do the same thing?
-Can I afford it?
-Do I have room for it in the kit?

Given the number of hard storage cases floating around my place, I'm pretty good on guns for a while. :(

I've probably made every excuse possible to get a bit more kit. But usually it's from a made up point of necessity that I buy stuff.

Like if I buy an M60, well obviously I'm going to buy all the Vietnam kit to go with it otherwise I'll look ridiculous. Spending money because I spent money sort of mindset...
