Sniper certification you really only need for using the guns that go over the 450 fps mark. However, honestly that's unnecessary. My svd is firing under 400 fps, so I can engage outside of 20ft, but the long barrel, decent gears, and hopup send a bb outwards of 250 ft. A few other snipers in this club go for the 400-450 as well as fps wont give you as much extra range as a good build will. Fps will mainly just get your bb to your target faster (granted a lot faster in some cases)

As for accuracy with an aeg it can be a number of things.
1) gun needs some improvements
2)use heavier bbs/ different brand
3) you're just not used to it yet

As much as Id like to say anyone can be accurate with any aeg, not all airsoft guns are built equal. Cheaper brands like JG usually have a great deal of difficulty hitting a target past the 100 ft mark.
Some times you can go for a while on the field without seeing anyone else. A true trooper wont let that put him down. A true trooper will play with himself

I know that my gun isnt a cheap gun, i use a g&g top tech tr418 light. And i for sure know velocity aint everything. My gun does shoot about 330 with .25s and i use tamashi brand. I think of the things that could be problemimatic is the barrel length as i realized i got the cqb style after i ordered it. Eiether way i keep my decision because its cheaper to replace the barrel than to rewire to the back which i prefer. However do you think its really worth it? I personally think that its me not getting enough practice but i dont where to go. Also i think once i get some fans itll help a ton as fogging is a huge issue. My gun itself when i shoot can usually shoot accurately about 150-175 ft before it starts to really drop or curve. Also if i use a heavier weight, will that help with things like wind? Because i noticed that if there is even a slight breeze my shots will curve very hard. Shoukd i try .28s? And is an barrel change for a longer barrel worth it? And does anybody know of a place i can practice shooting near langley/surrey? I do think if i have te chance to learn my gun it will help. Thanks!

.25 sounds pretty spot on. Longer barrel will give some more accuracy and range. However in all honesty thats up to you if you want to. 175 ft is pretty good especially for an aeg. Remember airsoft is very inaccurate, even the thousand dollar guns. We go for hits not groupings. Honestly some consider being able to get a hit out of five shots as a mastery of airsoft sniping at the longer ranges. On paper, or in this case on screen, airsoft does not reach far. Some of the good gbbrs get out past 300, and some very upgraded spring bolt rifles. doesn't seem so bad on the field though. Considering your gun, I hear the top techs are pretty much decked out.

While we will restrict you from playing in an average game, the only places that will permit you to practice shooting are the paintball and airsoft fields (Panther, Ambush, etc.). Perhaps you could get a ride to Panther and arrange for a lunchtime pickup.

Try practice shooting on the LMAG test range at the field, and (without your kit but with protection and visibility vest) observing game play until your ride comes back.

If your gun only shoots 330 fps with a short barrel, and you're getting 150-175 feet, your about average. If you want better range AND accuracy,at least a tight bore and a spring upgrade. shooting a gun with an fps of about 375-400 will do it for you. You should reach over 200 with that easy.
How short is the barrel you have? Can your gun handle a heavier spring?
As for how good you think you play on the field all comes down to practice. You can practice all the shooting and moving all you want at home or private field, but the big difference is on the field, SOMEONE IS SHOOTING BACK! You cant beat that.
And for the scope, you can get a riser for your red dot(recommended for the shots you know will hit target) or shave down your mask a little.
Some people think I am trying to be sneaky, its really that my eyes are not as good and I have to make sure its a tree and not the enemy! Trees do not call hits. I have shot a few.

Its my first gun, i took the advice of a friend who said if u want to buy, buy well and buy once. The tr418 was asthetically pleasing while maintaining good specs on paper. Honestly i dont regret my decision as its put up with all my noob stuff. It wasnt too expensive as far as airsoft goes and still maintains ability for good customization and performance. I love it. I thought it was the gun at first that was having the problem but it seems that it may be me. I honestly think 75% of the problem is fogging with 25% being, as u said, over expectations. However as u said when u r on the field u cant really see people past 150 ft anyway so its actually pretty good. I think i may add a longer barrel in later tho, just to try to keep my accuracy as good as i can.

I may do this not only to learn the game better and see how more experienced players play, but also i may bring a video camera and do some filming. Especially for players with gopros and youtube channels who want to add a third person perspective to their video.

My barrel is about 26 cm and you are completely right about the difference between practice and field. But at the same time if i can aim and shoot in practice it should help my game on the field even a little bit. Also im pretty sure my gun comes with a 6.03 mm tightbore but its just a g&g one. And is 400 allowed with .25's? If it is then ill probably go for that spring change although i will probably get damageinc or someone more experienced to do it.

limits are measured in .20 gram bbs. .25 at 400 is definitely over. There are plenty of places where you can see people for a while, and being able to reach out 175 ft is pretty good. I know some g&g products come pre upgraded with tightbore 6.03, so check before you buy a new barrel if you're keeping the cqb length. As for using a full face mask, scope risers help a lot.
My best advise is just to practice

400fps with .25 is allowed. It's still under 450fps with .20 and it puts you under DMR with 60ft MED and semi-auto only. Be aware that its mandatory to have secondary weapon that shoots under 350fps.

You may have been miss lead by this post.

After speaking to another admin (only one as it is late)
There are to be no under 16 players on the field without a parent.
That being said you are more than welcome to to play on family days.
Glad you want a safe place to shoot and you can do that at our crono / range station.
It's over two hundred feet ;) you can check the FPS of your gun in the morning and at lunch.
Thanks for keeping it safe ;)

Didn't I say that?

"Um, yeah", Family Days are some of the "non-average" days I should have said.
