Lower mainland weather and GBB's

Post2013-12-28 / 04:09 UTC GMT +00:00

I want to dip my toe into the world of GBBR's. the only thing that is holding me back is the weather aspect of shooting a GBBR.
I understand that it wont be a year round gun but in your experience has it been worth owning? especially because magazines are do damn expensive.

I hear ya Gunny, Kyle and I are wanting to get into the GBB world a little more also but, from the hours of research and limited experience that has been used and observed, we are only diving into the Rapid deployed CQB style guns for now, MP7 MP9 etc. this have a better history and somewhat proven record on the positive side, with a number of guys in our club wheeling the mention weapons with good success we have made the plunge and are going to be using these in the spring.
But you did mention GBBR! I think it will be a while before these types of guns will ever be reliable in low temp weather, it is comin but a couple years away I bet. if they can make pistols some what reliable and with accuracy it is only a matter of time before their GBBR's are on the same level, but due to the type of gas and it's discharge characteristics propane just don't work well when cold.

I think Hepa will be the wave of the future! take the Polarstar and make it a blow back you will have the best of all worlds in terms of a GBBR, but with better consistency and less wear and tear and breakages. not to mention with the turn of a valve you can dial your FPS and ROF to whatever you want.

I am hoping to see the polarstar type rifles offered by more manufacturers just like the PTW frenzy happened, when systemas were the top dog they were $2000 and the only one in town, times have changed in the PTW world!
you went FULL RETARD!!

great points Cookoff. really appreciate it. I know the KWA LM4 system is one of the best ones on the market at the moment. apparently they have some great cold weather characteristics.

I as well am looking to buy a new GBBR but stuck on either a M-14 or L85A2. Mind you the damn Scar and it's friend WE ACR gave me a wink! :o
I know a few guys around these parts, Juicy,Deep6 and Loops have some experience with GBBRs and they would be a good start to bug them for their input on GBBR's. One thing that bugs me, is trying to find a retailer that has either of the rifles that I mentioned above, most of which is listed as sold out...... There should be a ton of reviews online and that of Youtube. One item that is mentioned allot about GBBRs is they require more maintenance than your regular AEG which makes perfect sense considering GBB Pistols require basic maintenance as well. As for weather, ya that could be a challenge here on the wet coast with the odd chance of the temperature dropping below 0' degree's could be a issue. I found out the hard way with my Winchester rifle when it was cold last year.(Not a shotgun Optix :geek: )

i run my kwa mp9 last game @ bigfoot , got no issues and it was cold half expecting that i would lose fps but it work just the same as in summer time with a stock flute valve.. gas consumption is superb, manage to fire all 48 rounds plus another half without topping up.
