Thursday nights at Panther

Post2013-10-11 / 06:34 UTC GMT +00:00

Just thought Id give a shout out to Elliot and Troy (cowboy) who is running the Thursday night airsoft at panther.

Played the last 3 weeks and it keeps getting better and better, playing in dunes, "spools" & city is a blast...especially love playing in the panther paintball setup area for a nice urban feel :D There a few local guys that have come out to play on the weekend that ive seen come out which is also really nice.

Highly recommend playing if your looking for something to switch up your week. Plus the free admission is always a bonus

cheers,
Travis.

Nicely put TJ, thurs nights is becoming a really cool event, i think with more experienced guys teaching the newer guys a thing or two it will be even better.

I liked last nights rule of tac lights on all times, really evens things out at first i was like balls but then it turned out to be a really cool thing. really cuts down on the possibility of point blank surprise shots, and you also see whats around and who's around.

looking forward to next week ... if i don't have to work on the island.
its not everyones cup of tea, its allot of CQB and really close shots, i highly recommend full face/head protection. and semi only

correct. I know this was a turn off for some players which I fully understand and respect. However, I've had no issues at all. I've had just as many of those "that hurt a little more then normal" then I would have at any other game or day.

I just dont understand why the 400 NO MED rule is in effect here, but dont get me wrong I respect that Chris or Kyle can do what ever they like like. I Just dont play because I spend so much time at Panther and other fields that have the same rules and WOULD play if they rules on Thursday night were the same as the rest of most of BC. I wonder how many extra people would PAY to play if the MED/FPS rule was closer to the BC standard.

Especially since Richmond Indoor Paintball sells out almost every time at 30.00 per evening.
Again, not hating on Panther at all.

I do agree that the 400 med rules should apply, were all doing this to have fun and the math speaks when talking about jules.

In all honesty, I have no idea why they are not enforced. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be, except for 50% of the areas that are played are CQB and if they were enforced, would deem those fields unplayable. which would then minimize the playable areas. How many of our guns shoot under or a maximum of 350 fps? I know currently mine are all at or near that 400 fps range. Keep in mind that when I say "how many of us" I'm referring to the players attending the games on Thursday.

I seem to be on good terms with the individual running it, I can talk to him. I'm sure if enforcing the 400 med rule would bring more players out (=$) it would be an easy decision, but hey, I just come out and play.

The main purpose of my post was to get the word out there, and speak a couple good words about Thursday nights.

Okay maybe I'm just stupid or maybe I just try to look at things from all perspectives but as a person having spent over 25 years in Paintball and Airsoft, I just have to ask:
if they rules on Thursday night were the same as the rest of most of BC. I wonder how many extra people would PAY to play if the MED/FPS rule was closer to the BC standard.

Who set the BC standard?
Now coming from a mainly Paintball background, I have seen the sport change, evolve, step back, ramp up and change in major ways over the years.
Come to think of it Airsoft as well.
I have seen MED rules in paintball go by the wayside, hand to hand outlawed, "tagging" an opponent to eliminate them getting lambasted for the violence and the hand to hand aspect. and the potential for physical "response"
So where do you draw the line?....anyone within 10 feet has to surrender?, what if the "attacker was out of ammo?
Do you switch to a pistol?, so now everyone who wants to play has to buy a pistol?
I would love someone to explain to me the cut and dried no way of questioning or having anyone misinterpret a MED rule, that works for everyone in every situation.
There used to be an old saying: Those than CAN play paintball, those that CAN'T play airsoft.
I am trying to change that perspective in BC, but when a person can be bunkered in paintball, take maybe 8-10 .68 caliber paintballs from close range ( 2-3 feet) and walk away without a word and accept it as part of the game, how do you justify a 10 foot minimum engagement rule for a 6mm bb?
Yes 1 is 300FPS and 1 is 400FPS max velocity on both fronts,
I understand safety.....and I'm a little tired of certain people informing me through social media rather than to my face that I don't. Even the lack of MEd rule has safety at the core, come ask me how I explain that one and I will.
So justify for me and give me a clear cut followed by everyone , no complaints, and always obeyed way of enforcing a MED rule that everyone, NOT just hardcore milsim players, (because despite their protestations to the opposite they are they Airsoft equvilant of Speedballers), but a rule that everyone who is going to play Airsoft will accept. And explain to me the world wide acceptance reasoning behind it. And I will consider it.

I'm all ears

In my opinion ...

Come out and play, if you don't like something say something if nothing changes it might not be your cup of tea ... Then u can talk smack ...

The guys who run thurs night have addressed all my concerns and I feel great mabe if you come out they can do the same for you ... Just saying.
