MOD: PTS Masada overhaul

Post2013-11-29 / 16:54 UTC GMT +00:00

it’s been a LOOOONG time since I took my Masada apart for a thorough cleaning and re-greasing so I decided to give it a overhaul.

Things that were done include,

Clean entire gearbox shell and inspect for any cracks,
Remove carbon from the motor... ooh boy was there a LOT of carbon (running it underwater trick)
New brushes for the Guarder infinite torque up motor,
Brand new micro trigger switch, 21 Amp as compared to the stock 15 amp,
New low resistant 16 gauge wire, compared to the stock 18 gauge.
Installed a Gate Nano SSR Mosfet, (Higher discharge batteries here i come)
Jewellers rouge polished the inside of my cylinder (mirror finish)
Correct the angle of engagement of the piston with a 70D Sorbo pad.
Shaved down the 3rd piston tooth a little bit to correct for pre engagement.
Re-greased the internals.

Gears were in perfect condition,
Piston showed signs of wear but it was minimal, so i kept it in.
Piston head was perfect.
Tappet plate was in great condition.
Cylinder and cylinder head were perfect.

After everything was finished I plugged her in and gave it a whirl,
I lost 15 FPS, which was expected because of the Sorbo pad, (it takes up some volume in the cylinder head.)
It sounds a little bit quieter with the Sorbo, always a bonus.
BPS stayed roughly the same 20BPS area.
Trigger response was GREATLY increased, JESUS H CHRIST. It’s a damn PTW now. :D :D :D
And I no longer have to worry about burning out my trigger switch with a 11.1

Next time I’m out there ill really get a chance to test my gun doc skills.....
Can’t wait.

They can be ordered.

I bet if you stopped into any RC racing model shop you can pick them up.
