OPFSV is a 2 day airsoft milsim event with a lot of pyro, fireworks, explosions and smoke. Set in the fictional Eastern European nation of Spoonavia formed after the Second Russian Civil war, OPFSV features night and day play, pyro, fireworks, smoke, and vehicles. It is held outside Regina, SK on a 80 acre field with forest, bush and open areas, roads and trails, and lots of bunkers and buildings. Water hazards are pending based on the weather this summer; explosions are guaranteed.

Free camping is available for the weekend.

Fall 2013. The eastern European nation of Spoonavia erupted into bloody civil war. Following a series of punishing defeats in the field, the rebel army collapsed and the cause of the Spoonavian Liberation Front was swept away, seemingly tossed into the dustbin of history. Government forces moved swiftly into the rebel strongholds and rooted out those not loyal to the regime. Even though many either fled or went into hiding, blood ran in the streets and towns were razed entirely as vigorous ethnic cleansing occurred before the world reacted and RDU and UN peacekeepers entered the war torn nation. Peace was eventually enforced, but not before thousands died.

2014. With the onset of a brutal winter and the presence of peacekeepers, conflict was halted. By springtime, peace had settled over the nation and rebuilding had begun. By fall, the oil pipeline from the RDU through to Europe was reactivated and repairs were well underway at the university and airport. Peaceful protests demanding elections were held in the streets under the watchful eyes of UN and RDU monitors, with the government agreeing to hold them in early 2015. The news on TV told stories about life returning to normal. By the end of the year, only a handful of international peacekeepers were slated to remain.

However, under the surface, Spoonavia was anything but peaceful. Opposition to the government was strong and many believed the elections would never happen. Enough people had escaped or gone into hiding that the Liberation Front was very much alive, planning and rebuilding, waiting for a chance for vengeance. At a hidden location fighters began regrouping, trained and armed by foreign military contractors retained by wealthy Spoonavian ex-pats.

Then there were the rumours people still told about what happened at the hospital…

2015. Now, two years have passed since the end of the Spoonavian Civil War. With still no dates announced for the elections, protests grew in the springtime. Students, workers, and citizens unhappy with their current state established a permanent presence in the central square in the capital city.

Sept 1st. One hour before a planned visit by the President, an explosion happened at the Spoonavian Power Works. Luckily, only 5 workers were killed and the President escaped unharmed. However, the retribution was swift and harsh. Overnight the army replaced the police in the square. On the morning of Sept 2nd martial law was declared and a general mobilization of the army ordered. All across Spoonavia men and women left their families to return to the army in order to defend their nation.

Simultaneously a second group sprang into action as the Dedicated Second Front sent out signals to hidden cells and loyal fighters abroad. Plans were made to openly oppose the government and rise again before mobilization could be completed.

Sept 4th. Within days, a rapid investigation by the government claimed the explosion was the result of a bomb planted by powers hostile to Spoonavia. Stories immediately circulated that wealthy rebels who had fled abroad were now working in coordination with foreign interests and banking concerns and had attempted a coup.

Sept 5th. Early in the morning the army was ordered to move in and clear the square. The demonstrators were given one last chance to disperse by noon and declined. Mechanized elements of the Spoonavian Army advanced only to be met with RPG fire from Second Front fighters infiltrated amongst the protestors. Carnage ensued when the army returned fire, followed by a series of explosions that rocked the city as Second Front cells activated and took out key installations such as bridges, train stations, and what remained of the Power Works.

1700 hrs. Spoonavia again erupts into open warfare as the Second Dedicated Front openly takes to the field in an attempt to overthrow the government of Spoonavia.
