Thought I would share this with you all as it may be handy for the op. I recently added an app to my phone called PES. Personal eye system. It is a nav , tracking , mapping , sharing and blue force tracking system for you smart phone. I havent been able to make use of all the features as no one else I know is currently using it. It has the potential to be a large force multiplier at an event like this.

Spotty cell coverage at the site makes it hard to use these kind of apps, there is also the problem of the Sim being much longer than most phone batteries last especially when running positioning software constantly.. Would be neat to use on a large scale though

True DT. They have some recommended settings for poor reception. The app can run in airplane mode and be set to send the blue force tracking data at a set interval. The app turns off airplane mode to transmit the data. This event for tier one would be one to consider buying a power monkey solar charger for.
You bring up a good point and it actually reminded me of some other OP's where the size of the field required radios to be run on higher power. Most players didnt have extra batteries for thier radios and it cause some problems.

I got a 50,000mah battery pack (size of a Samsung S5) that can be plug to almost every smartphone. I bought months before Samsung S5 came out so it doesn't have plug for S5

Battery packs or they call em Powerbank can be purchase online roughly $35-60. 50,000mah was the biggest I've found a the time.

Hmm good points, maybe it would be worthwhile.. I think Jukebox was looking into something like this already, might have to touch base and see what might work. It would be nice to see troop movements...

I just got back from Pemberton Fest. And Before I left I bought a little $35 portable smart phone charger that is a little smaller then a pack of cigarettes and has enough juice to charge a phone 1.5-2 times. I mean what's the harm in getting this little app? If it works, awesome! If it doesnt, we go old school and use radios and maps.
